It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are the only things left for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind final game tension. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like I lacked timing whatsoever," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was dismissed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

In recent days a sense they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this triumph succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.
