19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is his maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after spring of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
